Canberra drivers are being invited to test self-driving cars, but it's not the cars under scrutiny, rather the human behind the wheel. Unlike NSW's autonomous car pilot scheme, the ACT program aims to establish how quickly a driver can resume control a vehicle after driving in automated mode.
However, other autonomous car developers, led by Google's Waymo, are putting in a lot of driverless test miles as this graph from Statista shows:.
