Last week saw the first recorded pedestrian death caused by an autonomous car when Elaine Herzberg was struck by one of Uber's autonomous vehicles as she wheeled her bicycle across the road in the city of Tempe, Arizona.
However, other autonomous car developers, led by Google's Waymo, are putting in a lot of driverless test miles as this graph from Statista shows:.
